Eco-Conscious Coffee
Great coffee shouldn’t cost the Earth
At Old Chapel Coffee, we believe quality and sustainability should go hand in hand. From the energy we use to the way we roast, pack, and ship your coffee, we’ve built our business with the environment in mind. We’re proud of the steps we’ve taken so far, and we’re committed to improving every part of our process as we grow.
Low-Impact Facilities
Our production and packing facilities are designed to keep energy use to a minimum.
We use low-energy LED lighting throughout
Air Source Heat Pumps help heat the space efficiently
We regularly review our operations to identify new ways to reduce waste and energy use
Efficient, Precision Roasting
We roast using some of the most environmentally advanced coffee roasting technology available. Our direct heat roaster is designed to recycle heat energy during each cycle, making it up to 80 percent more fuel-efficient than conventional machines.
Made primarily from stainless steel, our roaster is fully computerised and runs using advanced profile software. Every roast starts with careful manual development, after which we use precision technology to follow that exact roast curve to within 0.1°C and 1 second. This means every batch is both energy efficient and perfectly consistent, with less waste and better flavour.
Sustainable Packaging
We want our packaging to work hard for the environment, not against it.
All of our coffee bags are recyclable, including the vent
We ship orders using reused, repurposed or recycled outer packaging
Wherever possible, our point-of-sale and printed materials are produced on FSC-certified papers, meaning the paper is sourced from responsibly managed forests
Responsible Shipping
We mainly work with DPD as our delivery partner, thanks to their strong environmental track record. DPD have made significant commitments to carbon reduction, electric vehicle investment, and sustainable last-mile delivery. This helps us keep our environmental footprint lower with every delivery.
Always Improving
Sustainability is not a checkbox for us. It is an ongoing journey. We are always looking for ways to do things better, whether that means sourcing more local materials, working with greener suppliers, or supporting farming communities who share our values.
By choosing Old Chapel Coffee, you are not only choosing great coffee. You are supporting a business that cares about the planet, its people, and the future of both.
